well The original generals was what happened when EA got a hold of it and that was great.
This has gone down the shitter though.

Probably because it generally (no pun intended) followed the gameplay mechanics of the previous games just in a different universe, not the hardest job to do. EA have drastically gone downhill lately, definitely started making stupid decisions a lot more in the past couple of years.
The SP missions and skirmish were the only way I played Generals + zero hour.
It seems like EA's trying to compete with other companies and franchises very actively - except in the worst ways possible involving stupid design choices forced upon the developers or such instead of actually competing in legit means like 'more bang for your buck', if that makes sense. And even if a specific franchise has no direct competition (Mass Effect), they're still fucknuts about it.
Why can't video game companies realise that people will buy their stuff if they actually add stuff instead of take it away?
JUST BEFORE YOU SHUT YOURSELVES AWAY FROM THIS GAME
Bioware Victory general manager John Van Caneghem explained the sudden gear shift to PCG, noting that his team “really wants to get back to the roots of what made Command & Conquer great.” He added, however, that fan feedback will ultimately shape the game after it goes live, and – provided that demand is there – a single-player mode could creep out from the fog of war (and game development!) at a later date.
It seems like they just want to rush out the game as "acceptable" as possible, and given the current uproar of gamers voicing their opinions about the lack of SP they will almost definitely make one for it.

Come on. RTS and Skirmish (at the very least) modes go hand in hand. Sure the original might not have had it, but that was the mid 90's
Here's a post I made in another Generals 2 thread 5 days ago
I liked Generals and Zero Hour. Since then it's sucked. Free 2 Play from EA just means features are going to be absent and sprinkled in over time, probably nickel and diming you throughout
No thanks
Called it
RTS games are horrible when they're multiplayer only because if you're new to it and don't understand the mechanics entirely, you get slaughtered for your first week of playing, which (especially with a game you aren't paying for) is enough to force some people away for good.
I never played Command and Conquer back when it was good, so this doesn't hurt to me like it does to fans of the old games, But I still feel bad that you guys have to suffer a game series you loved being ruined like this.
No matter what, it seems eventually eventually everything EA touches turns to shit.
Ultima
Bioware
Maxis/sims games
C&C
ect.
do they sit in a room and go " Right these things are what make this game good , lets see what the game is like with out them and make a game on that" they should sake there idea team, wait no shoot them...
