A Particularly Frustrating Level Change

Yup, it’s a mapper’s worst nightmare, and I’m no different. Here’s a synopsis:

I make the geometry around the trigger_levelchange’s and info_landmark’s for the seperate maps THE EXACT SAME, only getting rid of unnecessary crap in the 2nd map that is out of the player’s (and landmark’s) sight.

Map 1

Map 2

Obviously, this doesn’t work. Searching for a reason, I look to the console once I compile the map in-game:

trigger_changelevel to canyoncaves doesn’t have a landmarktrigger_changelevel to zombietown1 doesn’t have a landmark’cfg/motd.txt’ not found; not loaded
‘cfg/motd_text.txt’ not found; not loaded

And upon reaching where the trigger_levelchange brush is, I recieve this:

Can’t find landmark

I tried adjusting the landmarks for both maps to be closer to the player’s vision (in the EXACT SPOT for each), simplify the geometry around the level changes, nothing. I am ABSOLUTELY LIVID right now, considering I’ve spent around a month of working on this project: 2 weeks going in to trying to fix this godforsaken problem. Please, help me out.

does this help any https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Trigger_changelevel

If you are referring to the article I’ve been uselessly trying to help myself with, no, it does not help.

the info_landmark has to be same name in both levels

Same name. EXACT same position. They are the same in both corresponding maps. If anyone would like to take a look at the VMF’s themselves, by all means feel obliged to.

You didn’t assign the landmark to the trigger_changelevel. The trigger_changelevel has a ‘Landmark Name’ keyvalue (‘landmark’ with SmartEdit off), and it’s blank. You need to put the name you assigned to the info_landmark in that keyvalue.

Alright, thanks for noticing my oversight, will see if it works once I get home
