A Question For SWEP Makers

I am wondering, how long does it take to code a single SWEP, not including making the model? Maybe using a weapons base like Teta Bonita’s.

Depends on many factors:
-How fast you can type,
-How good you are at Lua,
-How complex the SWEP is going to be,
-How many times you need to check the wiki because you can’t remember the order of the damn arguments.
-How easily you get distracted. etc.

Basically the answer to the question is that there is not a definate answer.

Oh. I didn’t know there were so many factors that went into it! The reason I ask is because I am thinking of getting into it, depending on how time-consuming it is.

I would say go for it. It is a great pleasure playing with a weapon in garrysmod that you can say you created :v:

5 minutes to 5 days or longer.

Using a SWEPbase you didn’t make only takes 5 minutes
Editing some random swep also only takes 5 minutes
Making a complete overhaul for a swep could take an hour
Writing a swep from scrap should take about an hour
Writing your own swepbase could take days

Depends on the complexity

Basically, what MakeR said
You can’t really put an exact time on lua coding, it’s always about how you use it and what you make of it.

But it’s worth it in the long run.
