A way to create authentic light (emitting) strips

Is there a way to create authentic looking light strips in source without using multiple point- or spotlights?

make a mapname.rad file (it’s just a text file)

add



texturepath/texturename		Red Green Blue Brightness

example:

lights/white002			189 233 247 425
