Add Text to Chat Input

I know you can use chat.Open(1) to open the client’s chat box, but is there a way to enter text into the text area, ready for them to finish typing. Eg: Adds 'My name is ’ to the chat input ready for them to type their name?

You may be able to fake this with http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/gui/InternalKeyCodeTyped but there’s no function for doing what you want.

With a custom chatbox, depending on how the chatbox is implemented, it would be possible, yes.

Ye, I can imagine it being done with a custom one. Someone asked in Help / Support about making a bind that starts a command off such as '/kick ’ was just curious if it was possible :slight_smile:
