Applying baked Ambient Occlusion to Cars

After doing some work with mods in Assetto Corsa, thought I’d try experimenting and bring in the use of ambient occlusion.

For the most part, it’s really nice, as it looks more like you’d expect it to in real life, rather than just flat materials. Everything has a little more depth to it, like this shadow under the spoiler, or in the intake vent of an MR2.

Adding AO to the interior still worked out pretty well, even if the tiled surfaces aren’t done the exact same way as the non-tiled surfaces.

From what I’ve gathered so far, it should be pretty easy to implement this on cars in Source 2, which is something I look forward to.
