Assmod MOTD

How do I set the MOTD? At the moment it is still the default which I would like removed. I tried to change it in my servers Data/ASSmod/motd.txt and the new text is now:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>You're Winner Roleplay Server</title>

<img src="" width="976" height="982" border="0" usemap="#Map" />
<map name="Map" id="Map">
  <area shape="rect" coords="106,700,303,769" href="" target="_blank" alt="Donate NOW!" />
  <area shape="rect" coords="15,565,411,605" href="" target="_blank" alt="The Forum" />

But I saved that and it still does not make a difference. Can anyone help?

Did you try restarting the server? I don’t see any problems with what you did.

I’ve tryed that several times, but still no luck. I’ve tried rearranging things. But that also didn’t help. Does anyone know any other way of doing this?

I think you can make a MOTD with ULX, but I’ve never tried.

You need the motd plugin.

I don’t remember downloading those. I guess I just take those for granted.

Maybe you got a copy of assmod with the motd plugin. Most people don’t get the one that includes it.

I have that plugin, but it still makes no difference.

Does the MOTD show up? Where’s the plugin file located? Does it say it loads the plugin when the server starts (read console output).

You have to edit the motd under /%sever%/garrysmod/garrysmod/data or cfg (I forget)/asssomething/motd - not under addons/assmod/assmod/motd.

Not for assmod, it has its own plugin.

Used it for 2 years, I should know.

I have my own server, I use assmod (And the assmotd) and that works for me.

Here’s where my working motd is located: (Changing the one in the addons folder doesn’t do anything)

Way too lazy to wait for photoshop to load. Paint it is.

As I said in my first post, The file I had edited already was Data/ASSmod/motd.txt.

The ASSmod default shows up. the plugin is located with all my other plugins that do work. When I join the server it downloads Data/ASSmod/motd.txt.

Right, because the ass_motd.lua (or whatever it’s called) plugin generates the txt file. You need the plugin for this to work.

Which I have.

Well, if it’s in the right spot it should work. Tell us the path to the plugin file.

I had managed to change it, but now I can’t edit it again. Just stays as the first one. :bang:

Bump. Anyone? :frown:

Okay… If you have saved it to Data/ASSmod/motd.txt and made sure it was saved as a .txt file then it should work.

You all have:
Sv_allowdownload 1

Yes, sv_allowdownload is set to 1. Weird thing is deleteing the motd.txt file and using the default plugin .txt is still showing my old motd.
