With laptops, if you press the FN ( function ) button, it is possible for the “layout” to change. For instance, numpad uses right side of the keyboard when enabled unless a large laptop is used which has their own dedicated hardware numpad.
It could be related to laptop software if it is happening on other games. Most laptops come with crapware / adware / spyware / callware / trialware / etc… pre-installed. It could be something as simple as a program.

Process Explorer from MS SysInternals. Enable Options > Verify Image Signatures, Options > VirusTotal.com > both Check Image Signatures and Submit Unknown Executables.
If you have a virus, it’ll check everything that is running. You may also want to browse the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/default site and grab http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902 and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.
Autoruns will tell you exactly what programs run on boot and other areas. Process Monitor will tell you exactly what is happening with your PC in real time such as read/writes, registry read/writes, etc… If you’re not too technically inclined, stick with Process Explorer and any file that has more than 2 virustotal hits, google the exe and verify if bad or not. Most of the times when you google an exe, it’ll link you to bleeping computer or other sites which have a stand-alone removal program.
If it isn’t that, then I’d recommend uninstalling all crapware the pc came with.
