Avenged Ellis

This is my first reskin. So C&C Please. It took me about 30 mins to do in Photoshop.

It is Ellis with an Avenged Sevenfold shirt.

The shirt lacks texture. It kinda looks like it’s just one color.

The shirt looks awfully bland.

Not the worst reskin I’ve seen, and fairly decent for a first try, so I’ll be nice.

  • Suggest adding subtle borders. Look at the shirt you’re wearing now. In particular, the edges of the sleeves, neck, and bottom. See the threads, the slight border effect?
  • Still looking at your shirt, look very closely. See how it isn’t made of plastic sheets, but a weave of fibers? If your texture is high-res enough, I suggest adding that effect. Not sure how to do it in PS, but in the GIMP, use Gimpressionist filter, add a weave overlay.
  • Make a VERY subtle gradient from bottom to top, bottom slightly darker. This makes the interesting parts stand out more.
  • Real isn’t pure white. Especially during an apocalypse. While “Real is Brown” is an overstatement, it does have a kernel of truth.

Parts done well:

  • Not extremely tacky. Seriously, most early skins try to do too much, and look like a circus.
  • Actually works. I’ve seen quite a few “released” skins that didn’t even work, and you could see it in the pictures.
  • Fits character, somewhat. I’ve seen some crazy reskins. Playboy bunny Zoey, for instance. This at least makes some sense.

thanks dude. I admire your kindness and C&C.

I will try to add a weave texture and gradient.

I updated it superbly. I think it turned out 45 times better:

Needs grunge maps.

I got it updated

Here is a fix for your link, http://www.garrysmod.org/img/?t=dll&id=84169

Now that’s what I’m talking about. Good job.

Looks very nice.

Good job

Looks alot better.

Yeah. I have been working on some more skins for friends over the past night. Only have 2. But I like it. It is fun.

Not into Avenged Sevenfold myself, but the skin looks pretty nice

And just out of curiosity, I don’t use GIMP but does anyone know how to do something similar to gimpressionist in Photoshop?

I actually don’t. But I just used a different method of coloring the shirt. Anyways, I wish I could help, but I can’t :frowning:

anybody have this in .obj format please?

Its just a texture. So I don’t. But maybe you could request it in the request section.
