Best method to render beams / ropes?


Wwhat would be the best method for creating rope-like sprites as seen in the Rope stool? It only has to be one beam though.

For instance, if my SWEP was to shoot out something (think grappling hook), how would I render the rope connecting it to the gun/player to all users?

I looked at the render.DrawBeam method, but I wondered if there was an easier method.

I also looked at spawning env_beam and info_target, but it would become complicated to manage them for the naming/target if there are multiple guns firing.

No, use a render.DrawBeam and a RenderScreenSpace effects hook. You cannot do more easier.
