Best way to apply motion capture data to valve model

What’s the best way to apply motion capture data to a model I’ve imported from half life 2?

Currently I’m just applying it to a biped and hiding it, while parenting the valve bones to their respective counterparts. This works well except sometimes the hands collide with the face, etc. I think I’ll just need to keyframe corrections to solve this.

But is there a better way?

I’m in 3ds Max by the way.

Unless they’re made for the valve skeleton, that’s the way it’s done.
