So whenever I attempt to export a rigged model with the viewmodel hands (https://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Using_Viewmodel_Hands) it appears the bones won’t export. Also if I attempt to export more than one object it will export them into seperate files and not as one. Anyone got a fix?
Right click the model and then shift right click the bones. Try exporting now.
To fix the more than one object exporting, select all objects and use ctrl+J to merge them. Try exporting now.
I was actually following your tutorial on the rigging viewmodel hands haha, thanks though mate it works.
No problem. Always here to help.
Hmm, I don’t have any tutorials on doing that, only on viewmodel animations and prop making, I’m guessing you’re reffering to the latter?
Yes thats correct.
My problem now seems to be even after rigging the idle animation and all that the hands still go to the default position.
Have you ever noticed an orange dot on your model? That dot is called the origin point. If you move your model in object mode, the origin moves along with it. This means that when you export, Blender will auto-correct the position of the model based off that orange dot.
There are two solutions
- move the object in Edit Mode. Moving the model here doesn’y move the origin point.
- if you already move the model in object mode and you don’t want to lose your position, press N to open up a side menu and scroll down to 3D cursor location. Set the X Y and Z coordinates to 0, and then right click your model and press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+C and select, from the popup menu, “Origin to 3D Cursor”.
I’ve set the origin point to 0 on both the hands and the model but it still appears over the right shoulder, and it appears to happen to more than one model I’ve been trying.
Hmm, that’s odd. Do you mind uploading the file here or sending it through pm (if you don’t want others to have it)
See I had one weapon work without adding any bones to the gun, so I figured I could get away with no bones on the gun with this one as it’s just gonna be a static viewmodel, but I guess I’ll need to add a bone to the model?
