Bone & stretching issues.

I just finished doing my model hack, only to find the bones are messed up or something, causing unwanted stretching. I don’t know the first thing about fixing bones or much on the subject, so I turn to Facepunch for help.

vertex weights are not right. you’ll have to change the weights, which may be a pain in the ass.

Now I have to learn how to do that.

Hate to bump my own thread, but could someone please point me in the right direction so I can learn how to fix my model?

What program are you using?

3DS Max 2010.

You’ll have to play with the Skin modifier(s). Basically, you have to tell the mesh which vertices should be attached to which bones. There’s plenty of tutorials on this process known as ‘rigging’. Note that Valve has done most of the work for you, you’d just have to correct some misweighted vertices.
