I doubt that people will know this yet… But I have an idea for a gamemode. I swear if any of you act like dicks and steal my idea, your head will be gone. Anyways, the idea is very similar to TF2’s payload. There’s a cart and you have a 30 second set-up time, and then gates open and you have to bring a cart to the end before a certain amount of time. (10 minutes?) The Special Infected have to hold them back from doing so, and there’s a mid-way point which awards them some more time. What I want to know is how to make a timer, so that you can see how much time you have left, or if this is even possible. Another thing would I’d like to know if it’s possible to make a spawn point where people respawn after X amount of time. Maybe a modified closet? If there’s a way to make it so when X happens the Survivors win, that’d also be cool. If not, I know a way to work around it. Anyways, thanks for help.
That’s an excellent idea. As for the timer thing, For the timer thing, maybe have it set so the gamemode is normally scavenge, but there is some kind of invisible gas can when they reach the checkpoint, so it adds more time.
I don’t even know if this is possible with hammer, but maybe a script.
That’s a good idea. Maybe like add time to the Scavenge if possible?
Well, does anyone know the answers to the other questions?
Survivors shouldn’t need to respawn, just like they don’t in versus/scavenge.
And payload = shopping trolley full of food towards a waiting van, right?
That’s a damn good idea.
You don’t need to have a visual timer. Use a logic_timer. When a certain time passes have a voice of some kind inform the players on how far they have left. For example, every minute or 30 seconds.
I don’t really see how this is any good. You’re escorting a cart to the end of the level.
In the normal game, you’re escorting a group of friends to the level. What new gameplay does this offer.
So you “stole” it from TF2 and now won’t let anyone else “steal” your idea?
It is a good idea though.
I’d play it.
I guess I’ll just have to go with that. The idea could also be implemented into a regular campaign with a panic event that doesn’t stop until the cart reaches the final terminus. (:3)
Sounds like Co-op but with a cart…
I like it, Can I help with anything? I’ve got some strange map layout and I don’t know what to do with it (it’s in the swamp)
Well, firstly, I’d like to see if you can make Survivors respawn somehow. If not, it could just be implemented into a campaign.
Oh wow, that’d be difficult… I suppose you could have them respawn in a closet with a time limit and somehow make it so when they spawn, it instantly opens or something…?
Hm… Good idea. I’ll see if I can do that.
Add me on steam we can talk over this:
Maybe a trigger over the whole map that is only trigger-able my survivors that opens the door?
That way when everyone dies, no one will respawn.
I kinda want people to be able to respawn. That way even if everyone dies then you can still do it. That brings me to another thing though, if everyone dies at once, they’ll lose the round. I’d need a solution for that too.
You’d need constant streams of hordes and an instant respawn for the infected…
