c_ viewmodel hands help

I’ve decompiled a view model, and now I’m trying to figure out how to configure the bones to work with the new c_ viewmodel system. The model I’m using has fewer bones than the medkit example from: http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Using_Viewmodel_Hands

How would I go about replacing the bones with the new ones? When I try to remove or edit bones it messes up the animation. I know it’s possible because the Counter-Strike: Source bones had to be replaced in-order for this system to work. I’m just having trouble understanding how it is done.

Nevermind, I can’t because the bone names are different :confused:

I looked over your post. It seems like the correct route to go if I was animating the hands from scatch. I’m trying to use a previous bone setup. I renamed all the bones to the correct names for c_ viewmodel hands. The problem seems to be that the wrist or some bone is misplaced. I should be able to tweak it. Don’t let the picture fool you. View model flip is turned on, and I’m going to see if this error happens with other c view models. The gun model is perfectly fine without view model flip turned on.

I got it to work. The hands are just a little bit awkward…
