GMOD addons will not work in S&Box, they are even in different programming languages
I’m curious if people will try to create some sort of Lua to C# addon compatibility.
Doubt it’d even remotely work correctly.
It wouldn’t. Even if you had a Lua implementation ready to go the amount of API and engine differences alone would be enough to make rewriting your addons in C# the cheaper option in terms of both time and effort.
Anyone who writes this shall be cursed by generations of developers.
Aw come on, it is time to leave Lua behind (or in GMOD at least), be thankful for it and now embrace C#
Addons developed for Garry’s Mod won’t run on s&box.
There are several reasons for this. Code-wise, the language used for s&box is entirely different, it uses C# as opposed to GMod which uses Lua. Not only that, but the API is also different.
As for content (models, etc.) Source 2 uses different formats created from within engine tools (vmdl, vmap, vmat), so these will need to be recreated from their source materials.
