Compile errors using the standard compile tools - Hammer 3.4

Whenever I try to compile using the qbsp2, vis, qrad, qcsg that Half-Life SDK provides through steam by default, I just get compile errors for all of them and my map doesn’t compile. Is there some other thing i’m supposed to use or configure properly?

It would help if you could post the specific errors you’re getting. However, the default HL1 compile tools are very old, and I’d say you’re definitely better off using one of the community-made versions. The last time I mapped for HL1, I used vluzacn’s compile tools. It introduces a lot of useful new features, and it can significantly improve the compile speed, in-game performance and lighting quality of your maps.

Yes it looks exactly the same.

Have you modified the commandlines/options at all?
