Compiled model has no animations

So in 3DS Max, I created and exported a small animation on a L4D2 Car model and exported it to a sequence .smd.

I then compiled an unchanged “regular” car model so I could slap the animations of the sequence .smd onto this car model.

Everything’s working fine up to this point, where I enter in

$includemodel “props_2019ii/car/car_thrown.mdl”

into the untouched’s car’s QC file. I enter in this in the QC for the sequence smd:

$sequence thrown “car_thrown” 30.00 FPS

And compile both. However the regular model has the animation “thrown” in it’s list but when I click on it, nothing happens.

What have I done wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.
