cs_derelictfactory - a WIP hostage rescue map

This is a map I started quite a while ago, based off my imagination and an old disused building of some sort. It’s going to be a derelict factory that has a full interior, complete with rooms in the 6 storey building, with almost the entirety of the building being accessible.

I’ve done the actual factory part of the building and I’ve done a few bits of the actual building, which I’m not sure what to put in the rooms. I’m quite far in development for the map but there is definitely a lot left to do - so please be aware that there is still a lot to do - I am missing some displacements, ropes, world geometry, a few props and cubemaps, but rest assured that these will be implemented in the final version.

With this map, I’ve really tried to up the detail over my old maps, in an attempt to match valve quality mapping, but of course I’ll probably never be that good. I have heavily utilized props and light glows, as well as using light attenuations and detailed world geometry. The one thing I think I could’ve improved is to have more varied texturing, as at the moment the texturing is entirely uniform throughout the building.

I have a dozen screenshots so far, and I might upload some drawings on my ideas I have for the map.

Looks nice, hows the gameplay?

Not possible to determine at the moment since the map isn’t exactly playable

Shove the required entities in, build a nav mesh and run some bots though.

The map really isn’t playable, as in I haven’t even completely finished the layout inside so you couldn’t get an accurate representation of the gameplay yet.

Awesome map, I can see some very good tactical gameplay in many a good match when this is finished up.

Indeed. The way it’s made really draws attention to the fact that the wall it’s on is composed of a single repeating texture.

The hole has no debris anywhere.

Most of your ceilings are too low.

One part looks extremely similar to the generator room in cs_miami (Bank level) on Counter-Strike for the Xbox. But it looks great, I’d definitely play it.

I dont seem to like the transparent windows, as they look out of place.

The huge hole in the wall looks a tad out of place without any rubble, plus why is it there? like what caused it?

For some reason, this hallway irks me, it’s kinda plain, add some barrels n’ carts around it to give it a fuller look, also add something below where the floor and wall meet, Like a baseboard, only concrete.
