Custom Materials

I used vtfedit and made some custom materials but when I try to draw them on a quad it just shows purple checkers.

This is from the vmt.

“LightmappedGeneric”
{
“$basetexture” “materials/custommaterial2”
}

I have the materials in gamemodes/modename/content/materials and base /materials folder and neither work.

This is how I load the material.
local mat2 = Material( “materials/custommaterial2” )

Also the vtf and vmt are in the same location.

don’t put “materials”, it’s already relative from that folder
