DarkRP Player Speeds

Im working on a project that involves player speeds. the project has to do alot with DarkRP, and i found that my entities change player speeds perfectly fine in Sandbox. the problem is, is that it does not do the same with DarkRP.
i looked at the Roleplaying Default Drugs, and it had a line of code that set speed.

GAMEMODE:SetPlayerSpeed(ply, GetConVarNumber(“wspd”) * 2, GetConVarNumber(“rspd”) * 2)

i added that to my entity, too bad it doesnt do squat.
i even tryed the NORMAL way

ply:SetWalkSpeed(650)
ply:SetRunSpeed(650)
[/lua]
And not even that works. (note, it also sets jump height. which works fine. EX: ply:SetJumpPower(450) )

so you see, im out of options. is there any other way to set speed through DarkRP?

According to the wiki you should call the gamemode function like so

GAMEMODE:SetPlayerSpeed(ply, 250, 500)
[/lua]

Why not just hook it with player spawn instead?

He may want to make a SWEP that makes you run faster, or an if statement. If the player has lower then 30 health, then set run speed blah
