THIS IS CURRENTLY ON HOLD, BECAUSE IT GOT TOO BIG! WILL BE REVISED SOMETIME SOON!

I am very sorry to inform you that this gamemode will be stopped, since we cannot find any good models and nobody are willing to make them. Although if someone finds them and/or makes them i am open to suggestions. It have been a delight to work with this gamemode and i am very sad that it is stopping. :frowning:

What is Dawn of the Dinosaurs?

Dawn of the Dinosaurs is a new Pre-historic Role-playing gamemode, that’s set in the Dinosaur era.
As soon as you join a Server that’s running this gamemode, you will need to create an Account and login.
After you have created your account and logged in you will be presented with a Class menu with two classes: Carnivorous and Herbivore.
After you have selected your chosen class you will be presented with a player model menu, all models on that menu would have been your chosen class in the Dinosaur era.

No there will be more, its just for the beta

The ability to ‘edit’ your Dinosaur, the unlockable weapons and the omnivore class will also add a lot more diversity.

oh.
sweet.
If you, er are, um, looking for beta testers, Im free.
I could also if you need it get my old server back.
oh and one final thing, sweet.

Thanks very much, we’re glad you like the look of our Gamemode and we will get back to you if we need any Beta Tester or a Server, thanks again!

Looks interesting, would be nice to see some content other than a dev map made from ep2 models but from the looks of things this won’t be another ideas thread.

I know we haven’t posted much media yet, but trust me when I say there are a lot more in store.

whoo sounds great will be watching this

Will the herbivores be large and delicious?

Yes, and juicy. Mmm…

I’d like to see where this will go, cause I <3 dinosaurs.

Though as you probably know Spinosaurus, Deinonychus, Triceratops and Stegosaurus are hardly from the early times when dinosaurs first started to spread. More like Grand Age of the Dinosaurs or something as you’ve picked some of the more interesting ones from when the dinosaurs were at it’s height. Spinosaurus was most likely mainly a fish eater btw.

Also, this needs Tyrannosaurus rex and Parasaurolophus walkeri. Models exist for both already.

And if you scale up the ferns and trees it will get a lot more of the prehistoric look.

Nice concept, I’ve noticed you have a fair few Trees that are slanted at pretty steep angles. I’d recommend you straighten them up, as in the real World Trees grow straight up towards the sky. The terrain in which they grow has little effect, if any on the angle of the tree. The only time you are likely to see Trees growing at an angle is if there has been a landslide or something similar.

Interesting idea, I’d like to see where this goes.

Very good concept. Hope this goes far.

I might be seeing it wrong, but is that water slanted like a hill?

Good sounding mod by the way, thought for sure it was gonna be another scripter-less mod. Hope it goes as planned.

Thanks for the feedback so far. We’re still in an urgent need of an animator, so please if you have skills in animating and find this project interesting, add me on steam or pm one of us.
See this thread for details: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=957502

First do you know if said models have animations ? IF they have can i have the link?

second: We have decided instead of scaling props UP and LOOSING details, we scale the dinosaurs DOWN :stuck_out_tongue: (Better quality, larger maps, more realistic enviroment )

There was an animated Trex model somewhere, and an unanimated Parasaurolophus, but I think it was rigged.

Edit: Here’s the parasaurolophus: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=923519
It has other dinosaurs too.

And here’s the animated Trex: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=57811

And you won’t win quality with scaling down the dinosaurs, as other things wont be scaled down and will thus have relatively less detail. The only thing you’ll win is relatively more map space. And either the big ferns need to be scaled down, or the trees scaled up as the contrast isn’t enough.

Hope this will go somewhere

EDIT: 300 posts :J
