Do maps download to clients by simply putting them in the maps folder?

This is a really stupid question and I’m probably an idiot for asking but eh.

So currently, I have all the maps on our server to download via workshop, I’m not sure if they download it all in one go.
What I mean by this is if a new player joins, would it download every single map or only download the current one being played.

They download all at once. You can add code like this to change that:

   de_dust = "123456", -- map name, workshop ID
}

resource.AddWorkshop(tMaps[game.GetMap()])
