Effect bone editing

Is there an intuitive way of editing effect bones outside of the base tool?

Advanced Bone Tool and Joint Tool are incompatible with effects, and the base Edit Bones function is very painful to work with. Gizmos overlapping with bones make switching between move/rotate/scale impossible, and the bones remain tied to their original spawned state, making them stretch and messing up the visualization of the rig. It’s a huge inconvenience when posing SFM models.
