Extreme FPS drop issue

I’ve really got no idea what this would be, but I’m figuring that either the source engine has some major issues, or Nvidia has some terrible drivers.

If I spawn 30 or more so NPC’s, my frame-rate decides to drop down to around 35fps, and I’ve got no idea why it would be doing that.

AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
8GB G-Skill RAM @1600mhz
MSi N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II (SLI)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506)
MSI NF750-G55 Motherboard

With two GTX560Ti’s in SLI, 8 Gigs of ram, and 4 Core 3.4GHz processor, you’d think I shouldn’t even be dropping past 60, but I do. Is there possibly some NVIDIA Control panel setting that can fix this?

Um, maybe don’t spawn 30 NPC’s?

The source engine isn’t meant to handle that.

He’s right honestly if you are on a large map and spawning a shit ton of npcs, it may not be your computer.
