"Failed to load sound" on Linux systems, but not Windows

I recently switched to Linux, because, like, why not. Now I can’t use many GMod mods because they end up showing errors, and in the console, they show something like this:

Failed to load sound "vehicles\whyisthisnotworkingonlinux.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository

Note that this issue only appears to occur with vehicle mods and only Linux systems (I have tested Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04, and Debian 8, no rpm based distros yet though. On Windows, this issue does not occur, I haven’t yet tested on a Mac).

Thanks

Have you tried reinstalling Garry’s Mod?

Yes, I have already reinstalled it several times.

Are all file names in lower case on the filesystem itself?

No, it doesn’t matter if your script is using the correct file case, Garry’s Mod’s answer to case sensitivity is “lowercase everything lol”

Yes, everything on the client and server is lowercase.
