FOV v_models not right!

So,
I am creating more custom models by the day, but recently, all of the sudden, the field of view changed dramatically! When I play with my skin, it is extremely hard to see. It feels very close to my face(lol).
Please help, it is not normal, and my fov on other weapons is perfect…
Help!

I cannot really put up a screenshot, but it should be pretty self-explanatory.

I’d say you just alter the x ,y and z coordinants. That should fix it, it would be best to just do it in the coding, but you could alter it’s location in the .smd file.

My smd looks like this:
$cd “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\benhenry96 eam fortress 2 f\models\weapons\v_models\Decompiled\bayonet”
$modelname “weapons\v_models\v_shovel_soldier.mdl”
$model “v_shovel” “v_shovel_soldier.dmx.smd”
$cdmaterials “models\weapons\v_shovel”
$cdmaterials “models/player/soldier”
$texturegroup skinfamilies
{
{“models/player/soldier/soldier_sleeves_red.vmt”
“models/player/soldier/soldier_hands.vmt”
}
{“models/player/soldier/soldier_sleeves_blue.vmt”
“models/player/soldier/soldier_hands.vmt”
}
}
// Model uses material “models/player/soldier/soldier_sleeves_red.vmt”
// Model uses material “models/player/soldier/soldier_hands.vmt”
// Model uses material “models/weapons/v_shovel/v_shovel.vmt”
// Model uses material “models/player/soldier/soldier_sleeves_blue.vmt”
$attachment “weapon_bone” “weapon_bone” -0.00 -0.00 -0.00 rotate 0.00 0.00 -0.00
$surfaceprop “default”
$illumposition -1.606 -10.041 30.615
$sequence ref “ref” fps 30.00
$sequence draw “draw” ACT_VM_DRAW 1 fps 30.00 node raised {
{ event 5004 1 “Weapon_Shovel.Draw” }
}

$sequence idle “idle” loop ACT_VM_IDLE 1 fps 30.00 node raised
$sequence swing_a “swing_a” ACT_VM_HITCENTER 1 fps 30.00 node raised
$sequence swing_b “swing_b” ACT_VM_HITCENTER 1 fps 30.00 node raised
$sequence swing_c “swing_c” ACT_VM_SWINGHARD 1 fps 30.00 node raised

Now how do I alter the coordinates in the code?

is anyone going to help?

use “$origin 0 0 0” and mess with the coordinates (the 0’s). i think that should fix that there problem :smiley:

Thanks mastachief19, That really helped me and I got it fixed.

To avoid problems in the future, you should prepare an empty v_ model project, using the SMDs and .qc valve included in the source sdk content. Those are already aligned correctly and are a lot easier to edit and animate.

Yea, that’s what I do Tanner.
