gm_Ausfallen (Destroyed house)

As a few of you recall, i had a small project called destroyed_house a few weeks ago. It unfortunately fell off the face of the earth because my images shat themselves and i decided to take a break from it.
But i’ve been working on it here-and-there, and i think that i’m to a point where i can happily release it to the public (V1).

OLDER IMAGES, MIGHT OF IMPROVED/CHANGED SOMEWHAT, BUT STILL SIMILAR

(IMO the pictures don’t do it justice, i’ll probably take some more later)
This is the first release, so please feel free to add any suggestions/comments to improve it for V2!

Add some displacement hills to the side of the map, and in the 3dskybox add the coastline model.

Then add some very light fog.

Start 0

End 2000

density 0.9

For what’s there it’s pretty nice and convincing. It could work in well in a Left 4 Dead pose or something…

Looks pretty good, but i think you should make the map a bit bigger, maybe just add some hilly wasteland terrain outside of the fences, it would make the map a bit more useful and playable and not just pretty to look at.

also, i get the name where is my cookie?

Lighting is icky, but somehow very fitting. Good work!

I tried adding fog but it looked weird with the current skybox. I’ll have to find a different skybox or mess with the fog some more

It means falling in German.

I might write a small back story to explain the house(s) and the name of the map

Nein ich habe keinen Übersetzer benutzt, ich spreche Deutsch. (i did not use a translator i speak German)
also i guess you mend the name as a Fallout reference?

Ya-hum, if you notice the background you’ll see that the lakes aren’t filled with water.
There’s a story about how it used to be a prosperous farm, but in the 60’s-70’s when the industrial park was built (seen in the skybox), it contaminated the water so much that it killed all the plants, resulting in turning the once fertile farmland into a sandy wasteland.
The rest? Well, the name comes into play.

I might make a CS:S hostage rescue version

You should expand it and make a big post-apocalyptic map, gm_atomic is starting to get a little stale.

I could make it so that a small post-apocalyptic shanty town was erected around the old farmstead.
I could add a barn, maybe a windmill to supply power so there’s a reason to stay at the farmstead. I like that idea, i’ll have to remove much of the skybox and it might take some time. But i think i could make a decent shanty-style town for RP

No. I’ll do that in it’s V2.
But it’s kind of a small map anyway, i don’t think it needs noding
