gm_seastruct_v1

This is the second version of my first released map, Seastruct, which is a sea map which engulfs pretty much the whole width of the hammer grid! Most of the map is in fact underwater!

This map includes:

Scale up the water texture a bit. Other than that, looks nice.

Can use some detail in the water, like maybe some sort of bouey?

Funny, I have Episode 2, and other maps work fine, like Gm_Atomic, but this map just has that annoying black and purple texture smothered everywhere. Makes me sad because this looks like a great map.

Hmm, try doing buildcubemaps in the console. Dunno if it will work, but I forgot to build them when I compiled the final one :stuck_out_tongue:

If I put it any bigger, it looks retarded. I tried it set to 2.00, and it made the reflections of the island look completely shitty

Hey this is a suggestion could you remove the graffiti it seems like in every g-mod map i download there is graffiti.

Not bad, not bad. I like the idea of new lighting instead of most maps having the sun at high noon.

On the dry dock, try to have a few random tid-bits around, some immovable objects like signs or machinery.

Width and length are the hammer limits, height isnt to I could squeeze in a skybox. It is bigger than flatgrass.

Heh, pretty much all of my maps are sunset ones, I’m not so keen on the ordinary midday skyboxes :stuck_out_tongue:

Also the random stuff is a pretty good idea, but I don’t know if I’ll get round to doing it as this will probably be the final version.

I do like this map, but … the liquid soup water makes undersea navigation a bit of a pain.

Yeah, I did do some tests to try and make the underwater fog a bit further away but I think it is hard coded or something. :frowning:

This map looks great and really useful. Also, I agree with Kirad, maybe you could add some little empty islands (with or without treasure) or abandoned cargo ships or maybe even line the the four sides of the map with bouys that have faint blinking red lights where the boundaries are at so people don’t go crashing into the sides of the map.
