Gmod crashes every-time I touch the floor of my map

OK I have tested my map a million times in ep2 ep1 css and hl2+hl2dm I have all source games besides dods.

What should I do its not a displacement its a normal brush. Also I didn’t compile with vvis because vvis crashes it could that be the culprit, (yea im a moron but also im sick of it crashing).

Let’s see that compile log and maybe a screenshot of the map from Hammer.

Don’t use power of 4 displacements.

Compile it with VVIS, then give us the log.

Well actually you should use them, but then once you finished displacing something, set it’s displacement power to 3 or something. You’ll have a smooth hill :3: (happens to me all the time)

Yea I just read over it, fuck. But why will it work in ep2 I have no holes in my map I have an indoor map sealed with a giant black box. Were there coordinates?

Im having the same problem. My game crashes when i touch the ground except my ground is displacements. I saw someone post a suggestion not to use power 4 displacements… may I ask why?

Because there buggy as fuck and will crash the map.

The orange box engine doesn’t allow you to use power of four displacements

Pop that compile log into http://www.interlopers.net/errors. A leak isn’t the only thing going wrong.

What? I use power of 4 displacements and I have no problems with them.

Or, you could start with smaller power 3 displacements and not worry at all, because you still have beautifully smooth displacements ( I use 1024 x 1024 displacements)

Some power 4 displacements in the OB engine (not all) seem to cause a memory error when interacting with player hulls. Terrenteller and I were looking into it last year, but couldn’t find a definitive cause. It seems more likely to happen if you start with non-square displacements or manipulate it heavily, but it’s not a strict rule and can occur with flat square power 4 displacements. It’s weird.
