Gmod props in hammer

I am trying to make forest map that uses props from gmod.
So I found gmod_dir.vpk and I exported useeing program called vpk.exe.
I got full folder with materials models sounds scripts.And after that I put materials in materials
models in models sounds in sounds and scripts and scripts.
Then I opened up hammer and searched for prop and its error.Then I compiled map and compile log said that he couldnt read props.
I am using Hl2 models and materials for hammer,for map folders and game launcher I use gmod ,and for rad vis bsp… I use hammer sdk 2013 multiplayer.

You either forgot critical files, or placed them in the wrong directory. Unpacking each set in their root folders is sloppy and not recommended.

I tend to use Episode 2’s hammer for mapping, and this is what I do (works on hammer for any orange box game):

  1. Unpack the materials/models/etc to a folder called “temp” (or whatever you want to call it)
  2. Rename the folder to the game/mod you got it from “ep2” “css” “dod” “mymod”
  3. Copy it to <game>/<game>/custom/
  4. It should look like "<game>/<game>/custom/myfolder/<content>

All the materials, models, sounds, etc will be present the next time you restart Hammer.

Sidenote:
I don’t know how vpk.exe works, I use GCFScape. Works flawlessly and I’ve never had a missing content problem.

Make sure to check that you’re putting it in the right place, and normal GMod game can read them. Try using GCFscape, as Rory as stated as it’s functionality is amazing and can do more than vpk.exe

No need I found solution for that problem to.
The garrysmod_dir doesnt have some materials for some props.
