Green Artifacts on Mid-2012 Mac

Hey guys,

So I’ve been playing Rust for a little while and since day one I’ve been dealing with a problem I have not seen widely addressed. It seems that whenever I play Rust the game itself runs perfectly, hovering around 60fps and I experience no lag what-so-ever.

However green pixels litter the screen, and the darker the screen the more pixels (making it impossible to play at night.) I’ve attached photos so you guys can take a look at just how bad the problem is for me.

If I could get any tips on why this is happening or how to fix it I would greatly appriciate it. I have played Rust on Newer Mac Laptops and older Mac Desktops and this problem does not exist on those machines, it only happens on this particular model of MacBook Pro.

System Specs:
MacBook Pro Mid 2012

Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)

This is why.

Does it not run Intel or something?

Lol nothing runs intel. :v:

So the only option now is get a new graphics card or, wait and hopefully the problem fixes itself far enough into alpha/beta?

Nope. Only option is to get a new computer. You can’t upgrade graphics on a laptop. Get about 500 bucks together and go build yourself a desktop.

Actually, I recently played Rust on a newer Mac (Mid-2013,) that has the exact same graphics card as my current computer, Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB. The newer computer had no issue what-so-ever.

So it isn’t the graphics card.

Not sure what to tell you, then.

It would seem the answer is as jonny told OP prior, get a new laptop. Though I’d agree with him to instead save up 500-700 bucks and build yourself a gaming worthy desktop.

It definitely is the graphics card, buddy.
You’ll need something newer, as Jonny said.

Hey Monet, I am happy to help you further, but the forums are a terrible place to chat, add me on Steam:

Alright, thanks Lethality!

Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
