Hammer lagging when compiling

I was trying to compile a vmf for a map i had and it only got so far and then started getting slow i mean REALLY slow. I let it go for about 6 hours and then came back only to find that it had made extremely little progress. Is this just due to the size of the map or is their something i’m missing?

Your map could be to big, it could be our computer or it could be alot of fucked up brushwork, or leaks.
