Hand rig twice the size in Model Viewer

My animator just finished off a nice set of animations for a model and everything looks fine in 3ds max (Note that he is using a hand rig, so I can bonemerge hand models ingame):

However when he compiles the result in the SDK’s Model Viewer is this:

It would appear that the hands are now, I think, twice the size of what they actually should be. And the thing is that they only get rescaled, they don’t change position or anything. Anyone got a clue why this is happening, or better yet, how to fix it?

  1. Off topic but that model could really use resmoothing
  2. Did he try doing unhide all then exporting everything?
