Headhacking and material management.

I’ve recently tried to headhack a model onto a body I was working on. I’ve been searching around for an in depth tutorial on headhacking though there isn’t one that talks about materials in source. I’ve been trying to headhack models from workshop onto my model to see how it would turn out in game, however I can’t figure out for the life of my how to apply the right material to the head, arms, and hands. I haven’t done much texturing work compared to physical modeling, but if someone could redirect me to a guide they know of or at least give me some advice, that would be extremely helpful. I currently use 3ds Max 2013 for modeling. Thank you in advance.
