Help! Huge lighting problem!!!

Now I normally dont bother facepunch with my problems but I tried everything for lighting. For some reason when i place a light_environment and do the point thing(what it says to do on all the youtube videos) the light doesnt show up. Its like i never placed a light. Theres no shadows, no light, nothing. Please help! I really wanna make some lighted maps! Also I dont know if this matters but I have a env_cubemap placed on the map and removing it didnt help at all.

I already had a skybox, so that doesnt really help me in any way. The map works fine except for the lighting that driving me mad.

It should help you if you read. Play with your light_environment settings to be something similar like in the link.

Ok I read it and I did the exact settings in the link. It still didn’t work, everything is as bright as day and theres no shadows, darkness or anything. What am I doing wrong?

Well, by the way he is describing it makes me think he doesn’t know how light_environment works…

Light_environment does not make direct lighting.
It creates skybox lighting as it enters the map through every toolsskybox-textured brush.

More on light_environment:

For the most part i know what light_evironment is. But whatever i try, when i place one(ground, skybox, ive tried everywhere) The inside of buildings i make are still full bright with no darkness in the entire map.

Run console in-game and type mat_fullbright 0
If that isn’t it… You might be having difficulties with VRAD. Make sure you’re compiling with RAD (Normal).

And ALT+P and see if you have any errors.

Because then you are rendering extra faces off an expensive shader.

You tried adjusting the brightness? It’s at the end number of the “Brightness” Setting. :v:
