How can this be improved?

Im in the process of adding ‘lighting’ to the outside, elevator, ect. And it is a nuke facility used to build, test, and set off bombs…

How do you think this can be improved. This is my first map, but I want it to look nice…

Also sorry for the bad photos, I used ‘Print Screen’ for these…

First off it’s too damn bright. Bad brushwork. Flat grass. And it’s too damn blocky, there’s not many props in there, it feels like you’re in a box.

You can try lowering the brightness and changing the colour of your lights to begin with.

Of coarse theres flatgrass, theres a underground view point, if I used displacements it would look horrible. I have alot of props init, just I cant take pictures of them all. I smoothed out as much as I can, and I removed the cube.

Anyone else here got anything to say?

You want C&C but still you’re just defending yourself. If you used displacements correctly it would look much better.

And still, fix the light inside they’re too bright and seem to be the default colour (white). If you get the comment that there’s not enough props in the pictures you showed, maybe you should add more? It really adds to the detailing…

As good as its going to get, unless I make the grass bigger. Which I probably wont.

The alarm is staying right where is it, not going to change one thing init.

If you want to, throw me a copy of your .vmf file and I’ll take a look make some suggestions for improvement. Here’s an email you can send it to: ndoucette@kvcc.me.edu

I will think about that…

Well, all I was going to do was look at your brushwork directly, which makes it a lot easier to offer up the suggestions that you’re looking for. I’m not about to steal your work, believe me, I don’t need to.

Redo texturing in some areas, and throw some door frames/window frames.
