How to get HQ Icons for HUD

I would like to get best quality for my HUD, but every time I make icons and compile them using VTFEdit, I get unlikeable quality.

Make sure the pictures you are compressing into vtfs supports the 2 powered by x (example: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 and etc)

The image your compressing doesn’t have to be a square, so rectangled textures works aswell.

An image in this resolution will not be affected: 256x512 because it matches the 2^x

To sum up, if your images matches the 2^x and is compressed into DXT5, then you get a pretty good HD texture for your hud.

Hope you understood this.

Also, you should open the VTF file in VTFEdit and choose No Mipmap and No Level of Detail. Makes it show up better for clients with texture settings on Low/Medium.

I understend most and I always make it the 2 power by x. So you meant health bar for HUD which is 128x32 is going to work properly ?

Okay I am done, I had to change from DXT5 to ULV800something
