Importing Maps to garry's mod

I’ve got a level all made up for Garry’s Mod, but I have no idea on how to get it from Hammer to Garry’s Mod. Help!
P.S. If it makes any difference, i’m making these maps in Portal, not Half Life 2.

I usually make them in Half-Life 2 Deathmatch and just drag them into the Garry’s Mod Folder, well save it there from the start is what I do. I’m not very sure what you’re supposed to do for portal, why don’t you try to just drag the .bsp (I think) over?

I must be doing something wrong. I tried to save the map to garrysmod/garrysmod/maps, but I couldn’t find it in the normal menu or in the console.

You probably have a space in the map name. Use an underscore

Did you compile the map by any chance

Doesn’t the map compile when you run it in a game?

If I read this right, you have to compile the map beforehand. Load up your map via Hammer > F9 > run it.

Yes. You need a bsp file which is compiled wmf.

Indeed. Navigate to the maps folder of the game you’re working on, copy the .bsp, and move it to Garry’s Mod’s maps folder.
