Those are my specs. I just got a gig of ram added to my 512 MB.

Gmod problems:

  1. When -dxlevel 81 is on, there is a wierd pattern of plack lines over text and background is missing and the loading screen is black.

  2. When it is off, when any window is open such as the map selection, it leaves behind a black box. If I move it the blackness remains.

  3. I get the blue screen of death when trying to run any maps but flatgrass =(

  4. There is no hud ingame when -dxlevel 81 is in the launch options.

I’m aware I need a new PC and I will try to have one by august next year but I may not be able to too soon. I have also tried updating my drivers but I may have done it wrong. Thanks for any help.

Here is what the main menu looks like with -dxlevel 81 or 70:

It would not let me take a picture of anything else in the menu but as you can see there is a black text in the words not to mention the fact that the screen is black…

Nice name. Anyway, there’s almost no way your computer will run Gmod with those specs, even under dx8.

k, thanks just needed to know before getting a new PC

I have this same problem on my computer and even on my laptop that has really high graphics card!

It’s not just a good GPU what you need,
And usually laptops don’t have “great” GPU’s
Then mostly have Chipsets.

I believe Gmod uses the EP2 engine,
Article from valve about EP2 and Intel Cards

I’ve also had that bug with the hud, When I didn’t use -dxlevel 81, And I opened the spawn menu, The part that was overlapped got erased -_-

My boot options:

-dxlevel 81 -window -heapsize 524288 -nocrashdialog
