L4D \ L4D2 \ Dear Esther \ Nuclear Dawn \ CS GO \ Other Maps Ports for SFM & Garry's Mod

Short description of the thread:
In this topic I’ll upload SFM & Garry’s Mod maps ported from:

  • Left 4 Dead 1 Custom Campaigns,
  • Left 4 Dead 2 Custom and Original Campaigns
  • Dear Esther
  • Nuclear Dawn
  • CS GO
  • Other Source Engine Games

P.S. I’m not the Autor of all these maps, I just port them for SFM and Garry’s Mod.



Dear Esther:

Status: Released

Note: in this archive you can find maps from the “Dear Esther” game for Source Filmmaker. I tried to carry them maximally without changes, saving all particles, triggers and different effects for maintenance of original beauty of the maps. The most important difference from an original maps is absence of water in Sky Camera (3D skybox) in case of serious bug with reflections on water. Thats why maps were extended to the maximal sizes and filled by water.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Yama Campaign:

Status: Released

Note: I’ve deleted a sun on sfm_yama_5, in cause of some serious problems. Don’t forget to click on “Show other entities” and “Teleport player to camera” to see brush entities and dynamic props. There are also all “.vmf” files for each map with fixed errors, so feel free to edit them as you wish.

Content requirement: Left 4 Dead 2 Content (left4dead2, left4dead2_dlc1, left4dead2_dlc2, left4dead2_dlc3)

Note: unfortunately I couldn’t make evening and night version because of some bugs. So there is only the original Day version. I added more shadows from the trees, so now this map looks even better than original version. Also I deleted func_precipitation (Snow fall). And yes, I used Pakrat to pack all resources into the map, so you don’t need to have CSS content.

Wow, first time I’ve seen Dear Esther porting, and the the L4D2 port looks great. Great job :smile:

Mountainside! I was so disappointed to find out that didn’t work on Garry’s Mod.

Greatly looking forward to the Esther maps. The originals are certainly showing their age.

I managed to get some of the textures and models from Dear Esther, but never successively compiled the whole map.

Dear Esther uses modified code (the wind effect on the grass for example was created with custom code and custom sprites) and I believe that they used modified VBsp and VRad tools (from the portal 2 sdk) when creating the game, so this might prevent you from getting a perfect port. Either way, best of luck to you.

As i see you are porting those, would be a nice idea to port the L4D2 Return of Dr.Cortex Campaign.

Would make some nice maps for machinimas or stuff in general.

Think when you get one of the dear esther maps (or more) working, you can release the vmf for it? I’d like to see how they did some things, such as the caves, and learn from it.

You can decompile them right now and open with the cs go sdk

Portal 2 sdk might be better, since the game was made with a modified version of that particular sdk.

I wonder who’s going to port 2019 from L4D2…

There’s no need to port L4D maps for SFM, they work just fine. Not sure about the other games though…

Pardon my inability to figure this out on my own, but… Will Mountain pass (The winter highway etc) be released for Gmod soon, my good sir? I apologize if this seems like one of those ‘will it be out qq’, I’m simply curious. Time constraints keep me from checking up on this every other day. (I thankfully have a few days off now, however.)

There is a bug with shadows from the trees. So if I couldn’t fix it, I’ll release BETA version (without some static shadows) of this map on this week. When I fix this bug, I’ll upload final version. Anyway, I’m gona to release Gmod version by the end of the week.

I’d love someone to make a port or remake of the Vampire: Bloodlines Masquerade maps.

I understand that would be a very complicated process being that the maps were made on a beta version of the source sdk.
