L4D2 hammer editor won't compile

I know this probably isn’t in the right section,

Anyway, i made a few small maps to test the L4D2 hammer editor, at first it was going pretty good but suddenly it stopped compiling and the game doesn’t start after the little compiling it does.

I’d like to post my compile log but i don’t know how to find it but i have tried with Additional game parameters: -dev-console and i tried using -toconsole -dev -console +sv_lan 1 but it still isn’t doing anything :frowning:

Any help?

Post the compile log, this is the right section.

I’m not sure how to get it, once its done some compiling the compile log disapears before i get a chance to look at it

check for a .log file, it can be easily opened with a text editor

.log isn’t the compile log.

Open up where your .vmf is and there should be a .txt file with the same name of the map, paste that in here.

Unless they changed something dramatically for the L4D2 hammer (I don’t own L4D2), a .log file will be a text file containing the compile log.

If it has changed, what does the .log file now contain?

Could of sworn there was no .log file to begin with. I know the 2006-2009 doesn’t have one.

Oh wait I see now. Vista just shows as Text Document. Doesn’t show the extension. Great, I feel great about that.

Just a side note, I’m pretty sure mapname.txt is what the use for the opening instructions on css maps, that goes with the team selection.

Huge brushes, and a leak. Remove said huge brushes, and patch up the leak…

I loaded the portalfile and it just shows a red line going straight through the middle of a huge block

redo do the block it shows and stay aligned to the grid.

Make sure the map is properly sealed, func_details and props do not seal the map.

and if all else fails, cordon the whole damn thing.

Comet don’t suggest that.
Kulonuk do you have any entities in your map?

i have quite alot i got about 3 vehicles alot of airline props to make a destroyed plane and then i got 4 weapons,ammo and 4 med kits, But the airline props are where the portalfile line was before i deleted the block.

oh i forgot to say i have alot of fence’s and some dead zombies
