Learning how to rig models for animations.

Okay, so as the title states, I am fiddling around with a few programs, trying to learn how to modify ships for use as animated vehicles for space builds and scifi RPs. I have tutorials galore for how to rig things for play such as the hands, feet and items like that for locations. What I do not have however, is a good enough tuturial for actually rigging a completly new model for play. I suppose I am desiring this as a start to finish with a fully textured and ready to rig model, or perhaps a model already rigged.
