Linux Dedicated Server installation empty?

Hello all.

I tried following the instructions on the rust wiki regarding installing the rust dedicated server using steamcmd on linux. It mentions that this is untested, and I’m happy to help blaze the trail. So the first problem seems to be that there are no files in the linux depot of the Rust Dedicated Server app. If I perform the following commands in steamcmd.sh…

force_install_dir ./rust_server/
login anonymous
app_update 258550 -beta experimental validate

I get the following output

Update state (0x5) validating, progress: 0.00 (0 / 0)
Success! App '258550' fully installed.

This happens instantaneously, which is my first red flag. I checked install directory, and indeed, nothing is there.

~/steamcmd$ find ./rust_server/
./rust_server/
./rust_server/EmptySteamDepot
./rust_server/667596daf679bf8fbfe984ebf3a2c3ea64780af4
./rust_server/667596daf679bf8fbfe984ebf3a2c3ea64780af4/appmanifest_258550.acf
./rust_server/667596daf679bf8fbfe984ebf3a2c3ea64780af4/temp
./rust_server/667596daf679bf8fbfe984ebf3a2c3ea64780af4/downloading

I noticed on the Steam app database page, the Windows depot says it has a max size of 1.04 GB but the Linux one has a max size of “no size.” I have no idea if this is useful info, but there it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Apparently the binaries for Linux were taken offline. That’s why it doesn’t work anymore.
