Make draw event execute even when entity is off screen


I am making an entity that uses Start3D2D for all its drawing (I know this has performance concerns, but trust me that this is essential) and has no world model itself. The issue I’m having is that as soon as the origin of the entity goes out of the player’s field of view, the ENT:Draw event stops firing. This means that as the player looks away from the 3D2D area the drawn image disappears abruptly.

Is it possible to fix this?


Oh my god I almost said “Is it possible to fix this or, ideally, to set the area that the object gets drawn in?” instead of just “Is it possible to fix this?” but I thought it was asking a bit too much. Thank you so much, this is absolutely perfect!
