my model can't find its VMTs

i’m pretty sure that many of you are familiar with the whole “ERROR model attempted to load one or more VMTs it can find” even when my VMTs all have matching VTFs and all have “VertexLitGeneric” in their code… what do I do is the question

heres what it looks like as of now

use this tool http://gamebanana.com/tools/384 and it’l tell you where the model is looking for the textures you can then make sure the matrials ae in the right folder and also check the path in the vmt

the path is correct, but its looking for pskmat0 as the vmt file, and it doesn’t even exsist? there is no vmt that I have that is titled by that name, clearly I screwed up somewhere -_-

rename the .vmt you have to pskmat0.vmt and if the .vtf is the right texture then the material should be ok

I tried it twice, but even then it doesn’t seem to work sadly

Try to change:
$cdmaterials “models\Mama Scarface”
into:
$cdmaterials “models\Mama_Scarface”

also change the folder name to Mama_Scarface if you hadn’t guest :slight_smile:

Could i have the Blender files? I’ve had it installed for awhile. It may be that the files in Blender are named differently. Thats the same case for me.
Like, in 3ds max. I have to name the Standard Material thing to what i want it to be named in the files.

Like, the textures name is…
Alex_Head_Diffuse.tga
The Standard Material thing is named
Alex_Head

So, when i export the model. The VTF/VMT will be named
Alex_Head.vtf and Alex_Head.vmt. Hopefully this is understandable. I haven’t really explained this that much. If you dont understand it could you maybe upload the Blender files with the textures etc. so i could see whats up?

is it possible you could help with two other models I’ve had the same issues with as this one did? both of them are dinosaurs again but I shall give you the credit you deserve when Scarface heads to the workshop :slight_smile:

You should try the rest by yourself. Compare my files with yours and find out what’s causing the problem. My guess is the textures aren’t named correctly
