Need help yet again: Texture errors edition

I’ve tried renaming the vtfs to ct_gign and ct_gign_glass, I’ve tried using tgas of the textures as sources instead of vtfs directly and then export it as an smd, though I’m not quite so sure if this isn’t plain wrong anyhow, I’ve tried putting the vtfs in all possible folders, I opened up the smds and vtfs in notepad++, see if theres any fucking thing that I could possibly hope for to be able to correct, I’ve tried, instead of trying to fully change the gign model to a custom one, adding a box ontop of the ct’s shoulders, add textures, export and compile it, yet all of the ct was textured but the box itself, I changed “lightmappedgeneric” to “vertexlitgeneric” whenever possible, I added vmts whenever possible, I made sure the directories where correct in the .qc, and lastly I downloaded mdltextureinfo.exe from wunderboy.org to make sure the model was redirecting to the correct textures, in the correct path.
Can anyone help me?

Give us some more information. Paste your QC, tell us the folders where you want the new materials, VMTs and everything else which could be important for fixing this.

The vtfs are located in


C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\zeldapro\garrysmod\garrysmod\materials\models\player\ct_gign

They’re named cn_bdy_skla_0d.vtf, and cn_hed_skla_0d.vtf, the original names from where I got them, dragon age origins.
Both vmt counterparts to these vtfs have following code in them

You forgot to put in the path of the materials in the VMT.

And don’t comment on the skin, I’m working on it, I just wanted to fix this all first before I start working on something very important.

Remove $translucent. Its used for translucent textures. You should do some research on the Valve Developer Wiki for some VMT Commands if you dont know what they do.

Just google it. Flipped normals are basically like flipped polygons, the invisible side is outwards and the visible side is inside. Just Select the flipped normals in 3ds max. Pictures say more than thousand words:

Also if you have the problem that your model even though you applied one smoothing group to it looks unsmoothed on some edges try this:

Be sure to change the value to the smallest as possible so you dont weld vertexes that dont need to. Also press the small black window next to weld to be able to set a new value.
