Newbie GMod admin needs some startup pointers...

Hi all,

I have been hosting TF2 for a while, and now want to set up a GMod server.

Yet it seems to be so much harder (for a GMod newbie) than hosting TF2, and I hope to get some startup helps from the veteran admins.

First of all, one big issue.

I have installed GMod servers, on both my testing machine at home, and my dedi. Both are fresh installation with nothing else (no extra contents, no plugin), and the server.cfg, is just a copy & paste from the official wiki.

9 out of 10 times when I shut down the GMod server (by using exit in the console), I get the following error:

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1786/mysrcdsgmodcrash0301100.png

and I don’t even have that *D:\dev*

Usually I just choose Ignore All Asserts.

Can someone tell me why I am getting this, and how I should fix it?

(My installation is the latest build, and I ran the update with -verify_all)

After I installed the extra contents (CS:S, DoD:S, HLMP, TF2), when I do my GMod update, will that alone also update those extra contents? Or I need to setup a batch file for updating them all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to run with -nocrashdialog although I’m not sure if it solves your problem. (Also note dat D:\dev\ is the folder the game/server is compiled in. mdurand is a Valve employee)

For updating all game content, you would need batch files indeed.
