Normal maps baking inverse

Trying to bake a normal map onto this baseball bat. I made sure to reset Xforms before rendering the normal map, but it seems to render out inverted anyway (the lines on the grip are supposed to be indented, not protruding)

Any ideas?

have you tried without the xform modifier?

you could just invert it in photoshop

I think you can invert the green channel in photoshop (maybe it’s the red, but definitely not the blue channel) to flip the direction.


Or maybe both the red and green.

Change green from down to up and see how that works out.
