NPC Navigation without nodes?

I’ve been tossing around the idea of structures that you can place and having it navigatable by NPCs. Obviously, this can’t be done using the nodegraph (must be done in Hammer), I was considering using an LUA node system and having the NPC “move here, stop, move to next pos, stop, move to next pos…” but I’m not sure how successfull it would be.

Has anyone had any experience in NPC node-less navigation?

Maybe try messing with gm_navigation? I believe the gamemode Vein uses it.

Yea, that’s the one. Diddled around with that package back in the day for assisting a player with an arrow pointing the way, but I’m wondering if an NPC could use these points for effective navigation? Would it be as simple as “move to next point in table”?
